My husband had a rough day at work the other day. I wanted to whip up a cocktail for him.

So, looking at what we had stocked in the bar, I picked this recipe.

I made the simple syrup. All you need is sugar and some hot water.

The lemon juice blends very well with the gin.

I garnished the cocktail with a few maraschino cherries.

The cocktail is tart, with just a touch of sweetness. It is simple, takes very little time to make. The carbonated water gives the cocktail a bit of lightness.

It is the perfect drink to unwind at the end of a rough day!
