Delicious Not Stew

I had something completely different in mind when I picked this recipe.

It is definitely not a stew. When I think stew, I think a nice thick and chunk soup.

There is no liquid in this recipe. So it is no where near a soup, or stew in my mind.

The good news is that it was wonderful.

I cooked the turnips in boiling water until they were nearly tender. This saves simmering time once you add them to the other ingredients.

The apple gives the dish a touch of sweetness. The corn gives the dish some lovely color.

I really liked the nutmeg. The dish smelled wonderful and hd a lovely spice flavor.

The sour cream gives the turnips a creamy base while the horseradish gives it a little heat.

So it wasn’t a stew, but it was a great side dish.

TURNIP STEW

3 Tablespoons Butter

3 Cups Diced Cooked Turnips

1/2 Cup Whole Kernel Corn

1 Onion, Chopped

1 Apple, Sliced

1 Teaspoon Salt

1/4 Teaspoon Nutmeg

1/4 Cup Sour Cream

1 Tablespoon Prepared Horseradish

Melt butter. Add turnips, corn, onion, apple and seasonings. Simmer until the apple and onion are soft, about 15 minutes. Add sour cream and heat through. Add horseradish and serve.
