Great Hearty Rolls

There was a great little note on this recipe card explaining who Mrs. March was. According to the card the woman who compiled my recipe box was married at the Coleman Place Church. The pastor at the time was Samuel T. Harris. Mrs. March was Samuel’s wife’s mother. She made these rolls often for the church events. These rolls were served at the recipe card writer’s wedding reception.

I love the history connected to these recipe cards! It is so wonderful to learn how she acquired this recipe. It’s also a neat thing that she was able to serve some of the food from her wedding reception throughout her marriage!

The rolls are very good. While there isn’t a whole lot of oatmeal in them, what is there is a nice little crunchy bit.

I did brush the rolls with butter before and after cooking them. This gave the top layer a nice buttery taste.

The rolls are small, which was nice. They are a little dense, so they are also very filling!
