Hot Dog or Hamburger

This recipe stood out to me because of it’s uniqueness. I just had to try it.

I am glad I did, everyone at our barbecue wanted to try them as well. They were gone in minutes.

The burger filling is a basic hamburger. The onion gave it a nice flavor, as did the mustard.

They were also seasoned well.

Shaping the meat into hot dogs was pretty easy. Although I was unsure how big to make them. I didn’t want them to be too large for the hot dog buns.

I played around with the amount of filling I used, thinking I got it right.

Wrapping the meat in bacon was fun. As the bacon cooks, the flavor permeates the meat nicely.

So, there are a few things I would change.

To start, I am thinking skewers. I think if you were to form the meat around a skewer it would help them not fall apart during cooking. Yes, a few of them fell apart a bit.

I think a skewer would also help keep the bacon in place better.

Secondly, I think the proper amount of filling would look somewhat like a cigar. I am talking about length and girth. My burger dogs were a little too thick and a little to short.

But they were delicious. And It was something different, which was great!

1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
