I Didn't Like It

Maybe I am too particular with my Cole slaw. My favorite Cole slaw ever was the one they used to sell at Chick Fil-A. Of course, they don’t have it anymore, but I loved it!

You don’t really taste the cheese. I used Swiss. Maybe had I used the cheddar it would have stood out a bit more in color and flavor.

The dressing is what I didn’t love though.

The buttermilk gives the dressing a little tartness. The cayenne is probably supposed to give the dish some heat, but I couldn’t really tell it was there. The paprika was more than likely there for color, you could really taste that either.

The mustard also gave the dressing some of the yellow color.

I used a mason jar to blend it all together and to chill it.

But it didn’t really taste like Cole slaw. It was more like cabbage with salad dressing. Dressing I didn’t care for the flavor of. . .

COLE SLAW WITH BUTTERMILK DRESSING

4 Cups Finely Shredded Cabbage

1 Cup Grated Cheddar or Swiss Cheese

2 Teaspoons Sugar

2 Teaspoons Salt

1/2 Teaspoon Paprika

2 Tablespoons Vinegar

2 Tablespoons Prepared Mustard

Dash Cayenne

1 Cup Buttermilk

6 Thin Green Pepper Rings

Toss cabbage and cheese. Chill. Mix remaining ingredients, except green pepper and chill. Just before serving add dressing to cabbage and mix lightly. Garnish with pepper rings.
