I Messed Up The Flip

I like to try the strange recipes. The ones that are very Mid Century in their manner or method.

I did add a little salt to the hamburger while I was cooking it. It just seemed like the right thing to do. And I am glad I did. I think it would have been under seasoned had I not.

For the noodles I used simple broad egg noodles. I am wondering if I should have chosen a smaller noodle - maybe an elbow macaroni.

Perhaps that would have helped keep the cake together.

So yes, I messed up the flip. The noodles stuck the the skillet quite nicely, so when I flipped the mixture onto the plate half of the noodles stayed in the pan.

They also fell all over my stove. It created quite a mess!
I carried on and finished the recipe. I just didn’t have one cake, I had more of a scramble.

The cheese on top was a nice touch. The cheese melts in-between the noodles giving a nice cheesiness throughout.

While I did have some very crispy noodles, the dish was actually quite tasty. Give it a try, maybe you will have better luck with your flip!

1 Tablespoon Butter

Brown hamburger and onion in fat until hamburger is brown. Cook noodles according to package directions. Mix the meat and noodles and fry in a skillet with 4 tablespoons of butter until brown on the underside. Turn out on a plate and melt 1 tablespoon butter in skillet. Return cake to skillet and brown the other side. Sprinkle with grated cheese and cut in wedges.
