Kind Of Tamale Pie Like

This was one of the recipes my daughter picked out for the week’s meals. I try to get the family input when deciding what to make. We all have different tastes and pick very different things.

She loves olives, so I am pretty sure that was one of the reasons she picked this recipe.

The meat mixture is very similar to a tamale pie in my opinion It has the chili powder and the tomato sauce like a tamale pie.

The olives were an interesting choice. The do add a little saltines, which is good. I honestly don’t care for olives, so usually pick them out.

The dough was wonderful. I used the Richer Biscuit Dough recipe. It was a nice thickness. And super flaky!

The best part of this recipe is that is took very little time to make. Under thirty minutes from start to finish.

Overall I think this was a great dish.

TOPSY TURVY PIE

1 Pound Ground Beef

2 Tablespoons Cooking Oil

1/2 Cup Chopped Onion

1/4 Cup Chopped Green pepper

8 Ounces Tomato Sauce

1/4 Cup Water

1 Teaspoon Salt

1 Teaspoon Chili Powder

4 1/2 Ounce Can Chopped Ripe Olives

1/2 Recipe Richer Biscuit Dough

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Sauté meat in oil until half browned. Add onion and pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until meat is browned and onion is transparent. Add remaining ingredients, mix well. Pour into a 9 inch pie plate. Make biscuit dough and roll to fit the top of the pie plate. Make slits on top. Place over meat mixture. Let stand a minute. Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Cut into wedges.
