Quick and Easy Pulp

I have never had a persimmon before. I have heard of them, but living in the south, it isn’t really something I see much of. Which is why I was surprised to see persimmons at Costco on my last trip. I snatched them up knowing that I had several recipes for their use.

All of these recipes call for using persimmon pulp. So I made this.

It smells wonderful while cooking the persimmons down. The cinnamon adds a nice spice flavor.

The persimmons soften up very nicely so mashing them is no big feat!

The persimmon is a bit like an apricot in texture. It does have a sweet, rich honey like taste.

Also, I cheated a bit and used my InstaPot instead of the crock pot. Only took 10 minutes!

I am looking forward to using the pulp in my upcoming recipe!

PERSIMMON PULP 4 Persimmons

1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

2 Cups Water

Wash, de-stem and quarter the persimmons. Place in a slow cooker, cover with cinnamon and water. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. Using a potato masher, mash the persimmons. Discard any leftover water.
