Read The Recipe Before You Start

I did not read this recipe before I planned on having it for dessert. I had people coming, so I did my best.

The crumble has a great flavor. The butter, which makes everything better, combines well with the brown sugar and pecans. It has a nice rich flavor.

Instead of packing the ice cream on top and freezing it, I formed the ice cream on top of the crumble. This worked well enough.

I think the recipe as called for would have made an ice cream sandwich result. As I made it, it was similar, just not hard set.

The blueberries are of course super easy. Really all you have to do is open the jar. Having them heated is very nice though.

Overall, even though I made it wrong, the dessert was lovely. I would like to try again following the recipe!

EASY BLUEBERRY SURPRISE

1/2 Cup Butter, Softened

1/4 Cup Packed Brown Sugar

1 Cup Flour

1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans

1/2 Gallon Vanilla Ice Cream, Softened

1 Can Blueberry Pie Filling

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, flour and pecans. Press evenly in to the bottom of a 9x9 baking pan. Bake until light brown, about 12 minutes. Crumble with a spoon. Cool. Reserve one cup of crumbs. Press remaining crumble evenly into the bottom of a pan. Pack ice cream on crumbs. Sprinkle reserved crumbs on top of ice cream. Wrap and freeze. Heat pie filling. Cut the ice cream base into 3 inch squares. Spoon on warm blueberries.
