What an interesting cookie!

The base of the cookie is a pretty simple sugar cookie. Nothing really special to it and pretty easy to make.

The magic comes from the spice drops.

I used a standard bag of spice drops. This includes a variety of colors. Each color has its own flavor.

Cutting the spice drops up gives you little nuggets of the drops throughout the cookie.

So the end result is a cookie that is filled with color. And filled with spicy little bits of flavor.

The cookies do crisp up nicely, so the spice drops are the star. The cookies are flat, the drops are still puffy.

If you are looking for something a little different, and you like spice drops - you should definitely try this recipe!
GUM DROP COOKIES
1 Cup Sifted Flour
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/3 Cup Shortening
2/3 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 Tablespoons Milk
3/4 Cup Spiced Gum Drops, Cut Up
Sift flour with baking powder and salt three times. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and continue creaming until soft and smooth. Add egg and beat until fluffy. Stir in vanilla. Add flour alternately with milk. Add gum drops and mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto greased baking sheets 2 inches apart. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Remove immediately to racks to cool. Cookies will become crisp as they cool.
